АРТАШЕС МАМИКОНОВИЧ ГЕГАМЯН

Родился 2 декабря 1949 г. в г. Ереване.

В 1971 г. окончил Ереванский политехнический институт (ЕрПИ), в 19881990 гг. слушатель Академии общественных наук при ЦК КПСС (Москва). Инженер-электротехник.

В 1974-1976 гг. был первым секретарем комитета ЛКСМ ЕрПИ, в 1976-1978 гг. заведующий отделом студенческой молодежи ЦК ЛКСМА, в 1979-1986 гг. инструктор, заведующий сектором, инспектор, первый заместитель заведующего отделом партийно-организационных работ ЦК КПА, помощник первого секретаря ЦК КПА. В 1987-1989 гг. первый секретарь Маштоцкого райкома КПА г. Еревана, в 1989-1990 гг. председатель исполкома горсовета Еревана, в 1991-1995 гг. член наблюдательной группы акционерного общества "Закнефтегазстрой", директор армянской универсальной биржи "Прометей", генеральный директор ООО " ХХI век".

В 2003 г. был кандидатом в президенты РА. По итогам первого тура президентских выборов, состоявшихся 19 февраля 2003 года, за Арташеса Гегамяна было подано 17,6% голосов избирателей.

В 1995-1999 гг. депутат НС (избирательный округ N 7).

В 1999-2003 гг. депутат НС (по пропорциональному списку блока "Право и Единение"). Член Постоянной комиссии по внешним сношениям НС. Руководитель фракции "Право и Единение".

25 мая 2003 г. избран депутатом НС по пропорциональному избирательному списку партии "Национальное Единение". Руководитель фракции "Национальное Единение". Председатель-учредитель партии "Национальное Единение". Член Парламентской Ассамблеи Совета Европы, делегации РА на Парламентской Ассамблее ОБСЕ, международной парламентской организации "Парламентарии за глобализацию".

Женат, имеет двоих детей.

Artashes Geghamyan was born on December 2, 1949 in Yerevan.

Mr. Geghamyan graduated from the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1971. From 1988 to 1990 he attended courses at the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the USSR CP. He is an engineer-electro technician.

From 1974 to 1976 he was the First Secretary of the LCYU Committee of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. From 1976-1978 he headed the Students and Youth Sector of the LYCU Central Committee. From 1979-1986 he served first as an instructor and later head of a subdivision, inspector, and first deputy of the head of division of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia Organizational Division and eventually was the Assistant of the CPA CC First Secretary. From 1987-1989 he worked as a first secretary of the Yerevan Mashtots District CPA Committee. From 1989-1990 he was the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Yerevan City Council. He spent the next four years as a member of the group of observers in the Andrnavtgazshin JSC, the Director of Prometheus Armenian Universal Exchange and the General Director of 21st Century Ltd.

From 1995-1999 he served as a deputy of the NA (electoral district # 7).

From 1999 to 2003 he served in his second term as a deputy of the NA (from the proportional list of the Law and Unity Alliance), where he served on the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and was the leader of the Law and Unity Faction.

Mr. Geghamyan was a candidate in the 2003 presidential election.In the presidental elections that took place in 2003 february 19 Artashes Geghamyan in the first round recieved 17,6% votes of electorate.

On May 25, 2003 he was reelected to the NA from the proportional list of the National Unity Party. He is the leader of the National Unity Faction and its founding president. He is a member of the Parliamentarians for Global Action Interparliamentary Organization and a member of NA delegation to the Council of Europe.

Mr.Geghamyan is married and has two children.
